![]() Happy 3rd Birthday Baby Kitties! Love At First Sight I knew... From the moment I first saw you, Two Motherless balls of fuzzy fur In a cardboard box, under a table At the bustling Farmers Market I knew... When I saw you snuggled together Tiny brother, and tinier sister Collared with orange ribbon bows That proclaimed you the gifts that you are... I Knew... When I held you in the palm of my hand Purring, alive, totally trusting this stranger Unselfish love, total devotion Wrapped in tiger stripes I Knew... When you cried as we left you And in the months we had to wait For the home and the life that we longed for That broke our hearts in missing you Love at first sight really happens... ![]() surprised! Hokule'a was the name given to the star Arcturus by the Polynesian voyagers, that is positioned above the chain of islands that we now know as Hawaii. It was this fixed positionary star that led them after a long long journey from Tahiti to these islands of Hawaii that were fixed in their legends as a place of promise and plenty, where the gods and goddesses resided. Hokule'a is the name of a great voyaging Canoe the has logged over 150,000 nautical miles in distance voyages around the world teaching young people the Polynesian Navagation skills and a pride in their heritage. She is a symbol of beauty rising out of the ashheap of dispair. Hokule'a for me is a metaphor for the hope and gladness that I have found in my discovery and eventual migration to Hawaii. Since then I have come to understand that the metaphor extendes to all of my life's journey... That no matter where I am I am Hokule'a and that the Spirit of Aloha can be extended to everyone in every place... It is the image of the Light that Shines in the Darkness that brings hope to everyman, a Spiritual Beacon and symbol of promise. Now it is the name of a Blog that will contain creative original works by myself. It will also become my nom de plume. May You follow your own Star of Gladness and find your hearts joy... |
